I just had the most wonderful session with a client who’s ready to shed 20 lbs—effortlessly. During our conversation, she had this great analogy that really clicked for both of us. She said she’d love to believe that losing weight could be as easy as ordering something off Amazon. You know how it goes: you see something you like, you click “buy,” and then you just go about your day, trusting it’ll show up. No stress, no doubts—it’s on its way. For her, the product she’s “ordering” is a version of herself that feels free, peaceful, and calm around food. She wants to be that person who doesn’t experience overwhelming urges but instead feels totally satisfied and at ease.
But then she took it even deeper. She said, “It’s not like a brand-name purse on Amazon. It’s more like ordering something custom-made from Etsy.” That really landed with her. Just like an Etsy shop, this version of herself isn’t something pre-made, ready to ship overnight. It takes time, work, and trust—both in herself and in the process. She’s placing the order and then putting in the work to create that version of herself.
Here’s where it gets really interesting: She realized she is both the person placing the order and the one making it. Like the Etsy shop owner, she feels accountable. She’s the one who has to put in the effort, trust the process, and not second-guess herself. She won’t spend time doubting or overthinking. Instead, she’ll just get to work, eyes on the target, because she deserves to receive what she ordered—a version of herself that’s free around food. The magic is, all of this happens internally, and the process feels fun and empowering.
We talked about how important it is to build trust with yourself in this journey. She’s treating herself the way she would treat someone who’s put their trust in her. She’s got her own back, cleaning up her thoughts, and keeping things focused and kind.
To wrap up, we did a future-self meditation. The future version of herself—the one who’s powerful enough to do what it takes—is already available to her. The paradox here is that while this future self feels far off, she can tap into that energy now through visualization. By connecting to her core and doing some simple breathing exercises, she found that grounded, calm place within herself. This place isn’t chasing or running from anything—it just is. It holds the power to feel at peace, even around food.
I guided her through a visualization where she imagined herself at a picnic table, surrounded by her favorite foods, out in a beautiful field. She took a bite or two, really savoring it, staying present with the experience—the taste, the texture, the smell. After just a couple of bites, she felt content and calm. Then, she pictured herself walking barefoot on the grass, under the blue sky, totally at ease.
This is the energy of her future self—the one who’s wise, grounded,
and flows through life with ease and peace. The one who doesn’t need to chase anything because she’s already in harmony with herself and her surroundings. And the best part? She knows she can tap into this energy anytime she needs it.
This whole process was such a beautiful reminder that transformation is not about chasing or forcing—it’s about trusting and creating from a place of calm and confidence. I’m so excited to see how this unfolds for her!
Wouldn’t it be amazing if we all placed orders for that version of ourselves we’re ready to step into and then trusted ourselves to create it? It’s totally possible.
